Joy Shoemate is the Director of Online Education at College of the Canyons where she supports instructors’ successful integration of technology into teaching and learning to promote student success, persistence and completion in distance education courses. She also oversees the development and adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER).

In addition to her role at COC, Joy co-developed and co-facilitates the Open for Antiracism (OFAR) course, in which faculty participants throughout the CCC system leverage open education to make their courses culturally responsive and antiracist.
