This interactive session explores how Yorùbá music serves as a living archive of knowledge, values, and history. Through live music and participatory listening, I will guide participants in discovering the linguistic depth and cultural wisdom embedded in Yorùbá songs. Together, we will pick out key words, phrases, and idioms, unpack their meanings, and discuss how these expressions reflect the Yorùbá worldview, connecting past traditions with present realities and future possibilities.
The session aims to demonstrate how indigenous languages and oral art forms can become Open Educational Resources (OER), fostering intercultural understanding and expanding global learning spaces. Participants will experience the rhythm, philosophy, and storytelling power of Yorùbá music while learning practical ways to adapt similar approaches for language preservation and cultural education.
Join me in reimagining open learning through sound, story, and cultural resonance, where every song becomes a classroom, and every rhythm a bridge between worlds.
