Why Diverse Faculty Voices Matter and How to Sustain Their Engagement in Open Education Practices
25.11.2025, 16:00–16:45 o'clock (Europe/Berlin), Yellow Room

If you want to know how to recruit OER creators and collaborators, as well as sustain their participation, this presentation is for you! Open education resources provide accessible materials which are cost effective, inclusive of diverse experiences, and allow for continual updating. This dynamic presentation presents a case study published in an upcoming article in the Bibliotek Forschung und Praxis journal. The case study analyzes three areas of consideration for tertiary faculty’s recruitment and maintenance in open education practices (OEP) including organizational culture, monetary compensation, and time management. Librarians and other OEP advocates who include diverse faculty positively influence student success. Learners will come away with creative ways to encourage and maintain participants in OER projects as grounded in academic evidence. Presenter Forbes will encourage audience participation throughout and address audience questions as well.
