26.11.2025, 03:00–03:45 o'clock (Europe/Berlin), Blue Room
Mainstream 'circular economy' discourse often overlooks the necessary priority to material reuse before recycling. This session describes the co-creation of educational resources focused on 'Circular Material Valuers' - professionals and volunteers whose embodied knowledge is key to diverting goods from the waste stream and building a more inclusive circular society. We will present outputs of a recent project: the "Circular Material Valuer Curriculum (CMVC)" and the "Material Valuer Course Programme". Such resources were co-designed with material valuers in diverse contexts. We used participatory citizen science methods framing valuers as co-researchers and field experts. We'll share the co-creation process and the resulting CC-BY licensed outputs.
