Open for AI. AI for Openness

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way Open Educational Resources are created, shared, and adapted. The panel, 'Open for AI: AI for Openness”, will explore how AI can promote openness, accessibility, and collaboration. However, it will also raise questions about the openness of the technology itself.We will also consider the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI, which provides guidance on aligning innovation with human rights and the open education movement.

Jöran is part of the team behind the OERcamp at Agentur J&K. He co-founded the OERcamp in 2012, with no idea that it would develop into a vibrant gathering centre for the German-speaking OER community. When Jöran isn't hosting an event on OER, he's busy exploring how we can shape learning and working for the future.

Dr. Bakary Diallo is a digital transformation expert and the founder of Subula e.U. www.subula.com, an AI and digital education consultancy business based in Vienna. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Diallo has led impactful initiatives across 27 African countries. Notably, he served as rector (CEO) of the African Virtual University, an intergovernmental body specialized in open and distance and elearning. He is an instructor in the Open Education Leadership Master's program at the University of Nova Gorica in Slovenia and a former Open Education Global board member and treasurer. Dr. Diallo is also a former part-time professor at the University of Ottawa in Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and completed an AI strategy program at MIT. Dr. Diallo has earned six international awards, including the 2017 Open Education Global (OEG) Leadership Award.

An educator by choice and an educational technologist by passion, Dr. Ajita Deshmukh believes in education without barriers. A strong advocate of Open Education, she explores how technology and social media can democratize learning. Her Ph.D. examines the use of Facebook as a scaffold for education — blending pedagogy, community, and digital engagement.

She is the author of Once Upon an Online Time, a book that was nominated for the Open Education Global Award, reflecting her commitment to accessible and creative learning.
